Ryan grew up in Pike County and graduated from North Pike in 1991. He went on to earn degrees from Jones County Junior College, The University of Southern Mississippi and Freed-Hardeman University. Ryan spent years in the non-profit industry in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee before transitioning into the medical field, where every day he has opportunities to minister to patients. He has served in multiple churches, leading Bible Study, Men’s Groups, Homeless Ministries, Celebrate Recovery, Praise Band and Youth Ministry. He is also involved in multiple local and state organizations. He performs in several musical groups, teaches percussion for several groups and is a Scout leader.
Ryan is married to Kayla Walker and, together, they have 5 daughters: Caitlin, Madison Bailey, Madison Grace, Morgan, and Anna Claire. Kayla is the Art Instructor at Southwest Mississippi Community College. She is an author and illustrator. She currently serves in multiple ministries, including women’s ministries and youth ministries across multiple organizations. Together, they have served as Bible Study leaders, Life Group Leaders and in Children’s Ministry. Ryan clearly found his partner in Kingdom Work with Kayla.
Mark 10:45 impacted him heavily in his daily walk with Christ. It is a reminder that even Jesus came to serve and not to be served. That Christ is willing to meet us where we are and to guide us home.
